Antraxx is a very stylish massively multiplayer mech arena combat game in which players do battle with customizable mechs in isometric arcade-esque combat inspired by classic arcade games.
Set in a 1980’s themed post-apocalyptic world, players will do battle across a variety of maps, each with their own unique gameplay mechanics that must be mastered. Players will also be able to take part in multiple game modes, engage in in-depth faction politics, unlock equipment and customize their mechs.
The current build offers up a small slice of this ambitious massively multiplayer experience, allowing you to do battle with a choice of three powerful mechs in a futuristic battlefield with destructible components. The controls can take a little getting used to initially, but once you get to grips with it, Antraxx offers up an enjoyable bit on free-for-all mech combat. Each mech has it’s own unique stats and is armed with two high powered guns that can be fired by pressing the left and right mouse buttons.
The combat is fun but can feel a little shallow at the moment, however it’s very early in development so the devs are just attempting to fine tune the movement and core gameplay still – a lot more depth will come in future builds once new weaponry and mech customization options come into play. It’s certainly worth keeping an eye on as the isometric pixel artwork is fantastic, once Antraxx implements customization, factions and economies is could be something very special indeed.
Note: The devs are often online playing Antraxx as they fine tune the gameplay, so if you come across them give them some feedback!
