Gripper is a vehicle-based comic book styled action RPG adventure where you use a car with a giant grappling claw attached to it to interact with objects, fight enemies and battle giant bosses.
In Gripper you follow the story of a young man who lives on a farm in the world of Burning Man – a place where androids literally do burn men. It’s a hostile habitat, filled with mechanized monstrosities, but you and your sister live quite peacefully on the farm, until one day you return to find the farm burned down and your sister missing. Time to wreak some vengeance!
The Gripper Alpha demo takes around 30 minutes to play through and features a very cool intro scene, a bit of exploration, some combat and two big boss fights. Best played with a control pad, you drive your car with the left analog stick, grab and throw with the right trigger and aim with the right analog stick. The grappling claw has a lot of uses and the boss battles are a particular highlight – with you able to grab parts of them and pull them apart bit-by-bit.
Gripper really impresses with it’s fun, fast paced vehicle-based gameplay, interesting setting and big boss fights. The comic book styled visuals look fantastic (particularly the cutscenes) and the soundtrack really rocks. Buckle up, it’s gonna be a wild ride!
