Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is a fantastic new remaster of the original Age of Empires game, with all new visuals, a full orchestra score, better AI, and a better UI to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original RTS classic.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been a full 20 years since the release of the original Age of Empires. Originally releases in 1997, Age of Empires quickly cemented itself as an RTS classic, as you guided your empires from the Stone Age to the Iron Age across Europe, Africa and Asia. It was a fantastic game, but time hasn’t been too kind to it’s dome of its design decisions, dodgy AI and ageing visuals.
Thankfully though Age of Empires: Definitive Edition looks set to address these issues and then some, revitalising the classic Age of Empires gameplay for a modern era, with Xbox Live multiplayer, a fully remastered soundtrack, vastly improved 4K supported visuals and a whole host of gameplay tweaks.
