Arrowborn is a very cool new multiplayer archery game for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive that allows up to four players to do battle in competitive and cooperative bow-based combat.
Arrowborn features selection of single player and multiplayer game modes, including a horde mode, target range and multiplayer Vs (or against bots). In the game you’re armed with a bow and a variety of different types of arrows, such as ice or explosives, which you can customize your loadout with at the start of the game. You can also attach a powerful gem to your armor to give you useful perks in battle.
While most VR games will see you teleport from place to place, Arrowborn allows you to jump to predefined areas on the map, which can feel a little disorientating initially but once you’re used to the movement it feels like more of a cohesive experience (and leaping over buildings is always cool). The precision afforded by your bow is very impressive and the variety of different types of arrow allow you to take advantage of your enemies weaknesses.
Even in Beta Arrowborn is one of the more fully fleshed out VR combat games available. It’s a very impressive game with a nice selection of game modes, high quality visual design and fast paced bow based combat that allows for precision and tactics. A VR archery game what really hits the mark.
