Arsonate is a Buckshot Roulette inspired card-based horror game where you face off against an arsonist who wants to burn down your fire tower.
In Arsonate you find yourself sitting in a fire tower at a large table filled with cards. The Host sits across the table and you need to beat him in a high-stakes card game about spreading fire.
Each turn you and the host need to flip a card on your side of the table, spreading the fire that burns from the center. Some cards are just fire, but others contain Utilities or Redraw cards. Utilities allow you to collect random objects that you can use to get the better of your rival (fire extinguisher, fire axe, etc) while Redraw cards force you to take another turn (which you don’t want to do). The goal is to minimize the spread towards your tower while attempting to burn down the Host’s.
It feels a little random and most of the current Utilities don’t have much impact on the game, but it has a lot of potential, the art style is great and it’s got a very tense atmosphere. It’s smouldering at the moment, but with a little more tactical depth it could be fire!
