Battalion 1944 plans to bring back the classic first person military shooter experience of the early CoD games, with a focus on 5v5 infantry combat where precision shooting and fluid movement are key to your success on the battlefield.
Call of Duty WWII may have tried to go back the the series’s roots but it still didn’t quite nail the feel of the classic military shooter. Battalion 1944 looks set to address this issue, reconstructing the Unreal Engine 4 to offer an authentic old school shooter experience, complete with all the quirks of the classics like Call of Duty, Enemy Territory and Counter Strike.
Battalion 1944 focuses on fast paced, skill based combat that allows for balanced competitive multiplayer gameplay and is streamlined to avoid all the unnecessary clutter and corporate design decisions that plague modern shooters. This design continues through to the weaponry too, with classic WWII guns such as the M1 Garand, Thompson and Kar98. They look and shoot as good as ever and avoid all the hassle of attachments, allowing for a balanced playing field.
It’s a very promising game that’s created by fans of classic military shooters for fans of classic military shooters. Sure Battlefield went back to WWI and Call of Duty went back to WWII, but Battalion 1944 is going back to the 2000’s when military shooters weren’t the bloated, hyperactive experiences they are now. Sign up for the Beta now for some real old school military combat.
UPDATE: Players can no longer sign up for the Beta, but you can purchase it on Steam here
