Becrowned is a Silent Hill inspired old school survival horror game set in a nightmarish ancient kingdom where your innermost fears manifest in horrifying forms.
In Becrowned you are a traumatized (and possibly dead) man called Richard Torrence, who is thrust into a strange ancient nightmarish world filled with some very personal fears. The demo takes around an hour to play through and sees you facing up to one of these fears (your father) in a monster-filled insane asylum.
Becrowned features classic survival horror gameplay, with static, dynamic and third person camera elements, puzzles, and resource management. Ammo is very scarce so it’s best to avoid unnecessary fights and make sure to be conservative with your ammo usage.
There are a few minor issues at the moment (it really needs better melee combat, and manual reload, quick-swap weapon and quick-heal buttons), but aside from that it’s a very promising game. It’s got a great atmosphere, very freaky monsters and a nice blend of puzzles, exploration and combat. A great bit of retro survival horror that will keep you on-edge throughout.
