BLACKSHARD is a Sci-Fi exploration game set within a massive megastructure where powerful ancient gods are imprisoned.
Drawing inspiration from The King in Yellow, BLACKSHARD is a dreamlike journey through massive NaissanceE-esque liminal space megastructures. In the game you are a Dreamer and as you explore the labyrinthine world you’ll discover mysterious figures, find shards of memories of those who walked the path before you and interact with ancient gods. These gods are imprisoned in the Labyrinth and need your help to escape. You can choose to help them or not, with your actions having a noticeable effect on the Labyrinth.
The BLACKSHARD demo is huge, with several vast connected megastructures to explore and at least two endings. It can take a LONG time to explore it all and some areas are pretty well hidden. There are little bits of lore here and various characters/entities to meet. White faced entities attached to columns are keen to keep order, while the imprisoned gods are harbingers of chaos, but promise you entry into Carcosa (an ancient city from The King in Yellow).
You’ll need a reasonably powerful PC to be able to run it well, but it’s shaping up to be a fantastic game. It’s a visually stunning world to explore and it’s filled with fascinating discoveries, structures and lore. It’s the sort of pay you could just wander around for days and still stumble across new things. A massive megastructure dream world you won’t want to leave. Highly recommended.
