Bloodroots is a gloriously brutal brawler where nearly everything in the game world can be used as an improvised weapon to beat your enemies up as you set out for revenge in the Weird West.
It’s technically a brawler/beat ’em up, but Bloodroots probably shares most of its DNA with Hotline Miami, with fast paced 1 one-hit-kill gameplay and puzzle-like levels that require precision timing as you figure out the best route through. In the game you take control of Mr. Wolf, a man who was betrayed and left for dead and is now looking for revenge.
The current demo build of Bloodroots (which you can get access to instantly) features one level, one weekly challenge and an online leaderboard. Timing is key when it comes to your attacks, as one mistimed swing can leave you vulnerable. You can just punch your way through the game if your timing is good enough, but Bloodroots really comes into its own when you start playing around with the weapons…
The colorful Weird West game world of Bloodroots is jam packed full of objects that you can use as makeshift weapons – from fish and carrots to ladders, barrels and wagons. You can use the weapons to chain together attacks, which not only looks really cool, but earns you more points into the bargain.
It’s a very impressive game, with plenty of gleefully brutal cartoon violence and a fast, fluid and fun combat system that makes great use of all the improvised weapons in the game world. A combo chasing brawler where the world is your weapon.
