Burstfire is a slick looking new 5 v 5 tactical first person shooter from former Hawken Devs, that allows defenders to fortify their positions in a variety of ways before being besieged by the attacking team.
The devs plan to make Burstfire a more slow paced, tactics based and team-oriented experience than traditional shooters. Interestingly, there is no class system in Burstfire, with players given complete freedom to equip the weapons and tools of their choice. The main game mode will be a sort of siege mode, with one team defending and one team attacking. Defenders are given a small amount of time at the start of the match to erect barricades and traps, while the attacking forces can use recon vehicles to hep sniff them out.
Upon release Burstfire will not be F2P or use subscription charges, rather it’ll stick with the traditional CoD/Battlefield payment plan – so when you buy the game you can play forever, with an option to purchase some purely cosmetic items.
There’s no video footage available yet, but the screenshots look great and the dev team has some great pedigree in the FPS genre, so Burstfire is a promising prospect. The Alpha goes live Tuesday June 16, 3pm PDT, so sign up quick if you want in!
