Cartoon Strike is a promising new low poly multiplayer shooter in which each map is inspired by a different game – so one minute you can be playing a WWII shooter, then next you can be in a melee-focused medieval war and the next you can be fighting to be the last man standing on an island.
Cartoon Strike may look fairly simple, but it sure has plenty of variety. At present it features 6 different maps, each spread through different eras and inspired by different games. Planet Khione is a Star Wars Battle of Hoth-style map that sees you blasting enemies on a snow-covered planet. Tounine is a CoD style map with close quarters warfare within a half destroyed WWII town. Dirt 2 is a Counter Strike Dust2 inspired map with tactical battles between security forces and ISIS. Castle Gate is a For Honor-esque medieval map that features large scale melee warfare between Knights and Vikings. Cartoonfield is a Battlefield inspired map with large scale warfare in a modern setting. And finally, Royale island is an obligatory Battle Royale map that sees players scavenging and fighting to be the last man standing.
There are also plans to add more maps in the future, including a futuristic Battle of the Robots map and a Wild West Shooter map. As Cartoon Strike borrows a lot from other multiplayer warfare games it may not be terribly original, but it could be a lot of fun. In most shooters playing on a different map just means you just need to use a slightly different load-out, but with Cartoon Strike it’s like playing a totally different game.
