Chronicles of 2 Heroes: Amaterasu’s Wrath is a 16-bit styled action platformer with metroidvania elements, where a ninja and a samurai attempt to defeat a goddess.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese mythology and classic 16-bit action platformers, Chronicles of 2 Heroes: Amaterasu’s Wrath is a retro styled adventure that allows you to switch between two uniquely skilled characters on-the-fly. The protagonists are a brother and a sister, and each has been trained in a different discipline. One is a powerful samurai, capable of close range combat and dashing (but cannot jump), and another is an agile ninja who utilises long-ranged attacks.
The tutorial section is a little too long, but once you get into the actual game it’s a lot of fun. The level design combines combat, platforming and puzzle elements, with a focus on swapping between characters to utilise their unique abilities. It makes for a very tactical experience that still feels like a classic retro game.
