PS4 and Xbox one owners can now sign up for a chance to test Code Vein, a new Anime-styled Souls-like action RPG from Bandai Namco.
Previously announced for a 2018 release, but since delayed until sometime in 2019, Code Vein is a Dark Souls-esque third person action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian world. Hiroshi Yoshimura, creator of the God Eater series, is leading the project which sees vampires fighting to survive in a world where the supply of blood is depleting. An overabundance of vampires and a lack of blood has caused vampires to turn into the “Lost” – monstrous ghouls that stalk the world.
Aside from the post apocalyptic vampyric setting and anime styled visuals, Code Vein plays quite similarly to Dark Souls/Bloodborne, with tactical stamina based combat and high-stakes battles against powerful monsters. It also has an interesting Blood Code system which encourages players to respec their character during the game, with different Blood Codes allowing you to use different gifts and weapons.
There’s no date announced yet for the Code Vein Beta test, but it’s looking like it’ll be sometime before the end of May so sign up now to sink your teeth into this great looking vampyric Souls-like adventure!
