ComicsTale, a game made for the Global Game Jam 2015, takes the theme of “what do I do next?” quite literally.
This simple comic book styled game puts you right into the book itself. There are several comic book pages to explore, each filled with a different scene. Something in these scenes needs to be solved or fixed so that a look on the main comic page can be unlocked. To move from page to page, you must use doors or other passages on the current page you are on. On a couple of pages, to start you off, the paths to other places are highlighted in yellow, though there is no other clue as to what you need to do to finish the page.
Each page has you trying to figure out what to do next. Clicking on the wrong thing can cause you to die and have to restart the whole game. If you find the right thing to click on, like an old lady and her huge dog, the scene changes slightly, adding the dog, or other monster, as an enemy. Once the enemy is on the screen, a timer starts to go down. You must click and defeat the enemy before the timer runs out to solve the page.
This game is one big puzzle, with no set direction, you’ll have to search for clues in each page and find the hidden enemies to defeat this comic book’s tale.
