Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals is now in open Beta on PC, so every one can jump in for some asymmetric murder maze fun!
We featured Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals on Alpha Beta Gamer less than a week ago during the closed Beta sign up, but due to popular demand the devs have decided to do away with the closed Beta and jump straight into the open Beta (any information you sent in on the closed Beta sign up-form will be deleted). The Beta features both game modes (Maze Escape and Shard Mayhem), three playable Mortals (Hellen Bierce, Doug Hauser and Detective Evans) and four playable monsters (Murder Monkey, Agatha, Dread Ducky and Gold Watcher).
Murder Maze is essentially the traditional Dark Deception Pac-Man-esque maze-running horror game, but with three player controlled Mortals evading one player controlled Monster. The Mortals need to collect 400 shards and escape through a portal while the Monsters try to stop them. Shard Mayhem allows each player to become a monster and they compete to collect the most shards within the time limit (and you can kill the other monsters). Both modes have a variety of Mario Kart-esque power-ups to collect and you can spawn traps and a special Boss Mode which unleashes an AI controlled Boss in the maze.
Hopefully in the future it allows for more players and more game modes (battle royale would be interesting), but even as it stands it’s a lot of fun – the Dark Deception gameplay is a pleasure as ever and there’s an added bit of mayhem when the monsters are human controlled. Jump in now to see if you can survive the murder maze!
