DASH (Danger Action Speed Hero) is fast paced 2D pixel art platformer that allows players to create their very own custom platforming heroes and their own custom game worlds then share them with the world.
DASH (Danger Action Speed Hero) is essentially a 2D pixel art platformer creation kit, in a similar vein as LittleBigPlanet and Mario Maker, but with Super Meat Boy-esque physics, guns and a focus on speed-running through the levels. It’s built from the ground up to allow players to easily build their own custom levels, block by block, enemy by enemy and gap by gap.
Features include multiple level formats and block sets, cut-scene creation, worldwide leaderboards, multiplayer, player ghosts, Twitch and Steam Workshop integration and heroes that you can customise with their own music theme, voice, sprites and nemesis. There’s promise of a nice variety of tile sets and character sprites too – with talented pixel artists providing different art styles – such as art inspired by Bruce Lee on the C64, Aladdin on the SNES or Flashback on PC.
It’s still early in development, but DASH (Danger Action Speed Hero) shows a lot of promise. The level editor looks easy to use while allowing for plenty of variety and the action platforming gameplay looks set to allow Meat Boy levels of agility, but with dashing and rocket-jumps. It’s shaping up to be a perfect precision platformeing sandbox where the only limit is your imagination.
