DEADGAME blends cool tunes and adrenaline-fuelled side-scrolling bullet hell arcade action as you blast swarms of robots across neon-filled cityscapes.
The gameplay in DEADGAME blends traditional Final Fight style side scrolling beat ‘em up movement with intense twin-stick bullet hell action. You control an agile little robot capable of shooting, dashing, momentarily slowing down time and using a powerful smartbomb-esque finishing move. There are no power-ups to collect, but if you blast enough baddies without taking a hit, you’ll earn a double-firepower upgrade (until you get hit again).
There are two levels in the current build of DEADGAME, both with plenty of robots to blast and both with a big boss fight at the end of them. Gameplay is fast, frantic and a hell of a lot of fun, with you weaving between bullets and using your special skills to help you survive. It features a placeholder soundtrack at the moment, but the songs work well and really add to the experience.
It doesn’t take too long to blast your way through DEADGAME’s two levels but it’s great fun while it lasts. The pixel art animation is excellent, the soundtrack rocks and the bullet hell gameplay is very intense. Well worth checking out for some side-scrolling bot-blasting retro arcade action.
