Deadstick is a first person flight simulator that focuses on the pilot rather than the plane, putting you in the shoes of a light airplane pilot as you navigate challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions.
Aiming to breathe new life into the flight simulation genre, Deadstick allows you to actually feel like a pilot, rather than just being in control of a plane. It takes place in a highly detailed open world with realistic weather systems, with you able to decide which jobs you’ll take. You’ll then be able to upgrade your plane with the cash you earn.
Deadstick is played out entirely in first person, with you able to get out of the plane when it lands, inspect it, loud cargo and carry out pre-flight checks. Changing flight conditions can lead to you deciding whether you’ll risk flying through adverse weather conditions or postpone until later and try to make up the time. The decisions you make are all yours to make and you can be as daring as you like, but there is a well known saying – “there are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots!”
It’s a very promising game with some novel gameplay features that should really allow players to feel like a pilot. Flight sims are usually quite sterile, sedate and peril free affairs, so it’s nice to have something with a bit of personality and danger. Sign up for the Beta to test out your piloting skills.
