Death end re;Quest blends turn based RPG gameplay and visual novel styled cutscenes as a video game programmer carries out actions in the real world while his colleague tries to escape a virtual world she’s trapped in.
The gameplay of Death end re;Quest is split across a “real” world and a virtual world and follows a video game programmer called Arata Mizunashi and his colleague Shina Ninomiya. After Shina suddenly goes missing, Arata finds that she’s become trapped in the virtual world that they’ve been designing, and to make matters worse, there’s an infestation of bugs that are destroying the virtual world with Shina in it.
Shina must now try to fight her way through the virtual world and escape while Arata investigates the problem in the real world. Arata’s segments will be presented in a visual novel style, while Shina’s segments will feature turn based RPG gameplay where she can roam the virtual world freely, battle with powerful monsters, discover secrets and collect hidden treasures. It also contains multiple endings (and some particularly gory bad endings) that you’ll uncover based on your actions in the game.
Death end re;Quest’s dual world gameplay is an interesting concept and its virtual world looks particularly fun to explore and do battle in. Sign up for the Beta to try and escape from the game within this game.
