Death Flush is a thoroughly ridiculous PS1 styled horror game that’s a little like A Nightmare on Elm Street, but if Freddy was more into toilets than finger knives!
Created by Imposter Syndrome (creator of the excellent M.STAIN) for the Haunted PS1 Summer of Screams, Death Flush tells the story of a couple and who are terrorized by a freaky Freddy-esque psycho called The Toilet Seat Killer. He gets his name (perhaps unsurprisingly) by killing people in toilets using a toilet seat with blades attached. Ronnie saw his grandfather get murdered by the Toilet Seat Killer when he was a kid. He managed to escape, but today it looks like he’s back to finish off the job.
Taking around 20 minutes to play through, Death Flush delivers a thoroughly weird fusion of puzzles, gore, surreal oddity and toilet puns… lots and lots of toilet puns. It draws inspiration from Silent Hill and A Nightmare on Elm Street, with the Toilet Seat Killer clearly modeled on Freddy and some great little homages to Freddy’s Movies (such as the Johnny Depp blood volcano reenacted in a toilet).
It’s a hilarious and delightfully silly little horror game that’s packed full of funny gags, freaky sights and bizarre twists. A wonderfully weird Nightmare on Toilet Seat. Highly recommended.
