Desktop Explorer is an inventive and slightly creepy puzzle adventure that plays out via the file systems of a Windows 95 style PC desktop.
In Desktop Explorer you have just opened up a text-based adventure that’s designed to be a tutorial for the new operating system you’re using. The adventure unfolds as you make your way through a series of password-protected folders, which contain clever clues that require you to experiment with the operating system to solve them. However, it seems your computer may hold darker secrets than you first expected.
It’s a very clever fusion of storytelling and puzzle design that makes use of the Windows style desktop in some incredibly inventive ways. It’s a lot of fun figuring out the intricacies of the operating system and if you ever get stuck there’s a Clippy style desktop buddy there to help. Highly Recommended.
