CODE:DINO-H (previously called Dinohazard) is a tense and atmospheric Dino Crisis inspired PS1 styled survival horror game where you attempt to escape from a frostbitten research facility that’s overrun with dinosaurs.
Feeling like a blend of Dino Crisis and The Thing, in CODE:DINO-H you take on the role of the last surviving member of a team that was stationed at a mysterious research facility in an undisclosed snow-filled location. It appears that something went extremely wrong, with the dinos (classed as “ITs”) overrunning the facility and ripping the rest of your crew to shreds.
The current build of CODE:DINO-H takes around 15 minutes to play through and sees you searching the facility for some means of escape. There’s no combat, instead you need to sneak past the raptors that are lurking around the facility and make a run for it if you get spotted. They’re not too hard to avoid, but you can only take a few hits before you die so you need to be careful.
It is a little rough around the edges, but even in its current form CODE:DINO-H has a fantastic sense of atmosphere and really nails the retro survival horror vibe. It shows a lot of promise and could be perfect for anyone hankering for a fix of dinosaur survival horror. God knows Capcom doesn’t seem interested in making another Dino Crisis anytime soon!
