Beta sign ups are now live for DOOMTROOPER, a dieselpunk tactical card combat game set in the Mutant Chronicles universe.
DOOMTROOPER is a multiplayer digital CCG based on the original physical CCG that was released in 1995. It takes place in the dieselpunk Sci-Fi Mutant Chronicles universe and is gearing up for release after a successful Kickstarter campaign that was funded in just three days. The gameplay in DOOMTROOPER has been slightly tweaked from the original (with feedback from the original creator) but it still retains what make it so popular.
There are various different factions to choose from, each with their own lore and unique cards. There are Warrior, Support, Attachment, Power and Fate cards – Warriors are your fighting units, Support cards are non-combative structures and vehicles that have a persistent effect on the game, Attachments are buffs and debuffs, Power cards are special faction specific abilities and Fate cards are temporary stat modifiers or special events that affect many cards at once.
During each turn a player has three actions that they can use in a variety of different ways, such as deploying Warriors, Entering/Exiting cover or attacking. You spend Destiny Points to deploy warriors, who you then use to attack your opponent’s warriors and earn Promotion Points, with the first team to reach 25 Promotion Points winning the match.
Although it never toppled Magic: The Gathering from its from its throne, DOOMTROOPER was a very popular CCG in the 90’s, with a nice amount of tactical depth and a great Mutant Chronicles dieselpunk setting. It’s nice to see it’s return in digital form so that modern gamers can give it a go. Sign up now to join in the card battling fun.
