Beta sign ups are now live for Dragon Ball FighterZ, the hotly anticipated 2.5D Dragon Ball Z fighter currently in development by Arc System Works – the studio behind the highly regarded Blazblue and Guilty Gear games.
Sadly a lot of the games based on the Dragon Ball Z licence so far have been pretty shallow cash-ins, but Dragon Ball FighterZ, looks like the real deal. It blends Arc System Works’ penchant for high quality animation and deep, rewarding, skill based combat with with the OTT special moves and beloved characters the Dragon Ball Z universe to create a game that may be the fighter of 2018.
Nine characters have been unveiled so far – Goku,Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Trunks, Freeza, Cell and Majin Buu, with plenty more expected to be announced before the game’s full release next year. There are also six fighting arenas confirmed so far – Planet Namek, Dying Planet Namek, Space, Wasteland, Cell Games Arena and World Tournament Stage. It will players to do battle in 3v3 tag matches, with players able to switch between characters and call in assists as in Marvel Vs Capcom.
It’s a fantastic looking game, with fast flowing combat, spectacular special moves and and beautiful animation that looks just like (or even better than) the Anime it’s based on. It’s shaping up to be a kick ass Dragon Ball Z game and an accomplished fighting game in its own right. Sign up now for some spectacle-filled skill based combat.
