Dread Delusion is a jaw-droppingly beautiful PS1 styled dark fantasy RPG adventure set in a corrupted realm ruled by a clockwork god.
With a demo released as part of the Haunted PS1 Demo Disk (a collection of PS1 styled horror game demos), Dread Delusion is an incredibly stylish first person RPG adventure set in a reasonably small-scale, but intricate world where your actions have consequences. In the game you take on the role of a Scribe or an Enforcer who is tasked with finding the source of the pestilence that’s corrupting souls and causing the harvests to rot. The Clockwork God has calculated your chances of success are 0% so it may not be the easiest of tasks!
The demo build of Dread Delusion gives you around 15 minutes to explore the world, but you can get a non-timed early access build if you support the dev on Patreon for $2 or more. It’s worth playing the demo multiple times. Mainly because the first time you play you’ll waste a most of your 15 minutes staring at the jaw-dropping vistas of floating castles under a purple sun and a blood red sky. Once you’re done marvelling at the scenery you’ll find that there’s a lot going in Dread Delusion’s retro styled dark fantasy world…
Dread Delusion’s world may seem small in comparison to the likes of Skyrim, but it’s perfectly formed and packed full of detail. It features three uniquely themed towns, an eclectic mix of NPCs to chat to and lots of secrets and side-quests to discover. Nothing feels like a chore – you want to see every last inch of it’s beautiful retro styled world and discover its many secrets. Highly recommended.
