Beta sign ups are now live for Dubium, a game of social subterfuge where a team of five players attempt to escape from a damaged space station with a traitor in their midst.
A little like a (much) better looking 3D version of Among Us, Dubium sees trust in short supply as players complete missions and try to escape a space station while being sabotaged by a traitor. Teamwork is helpful (if you trust your team), but as long as you complete your missions the rest is up to you, and you can stab anyone in the back if you think it will aid your victory. If you get suspicious of another player, there’s no need to vote, you can just whip out a gun and shoot them or sneak up on them and break their neck.
As you play your team of five astronauts will earn gadgets that they can use to customize their characters to suit their playstyle. Interestingly, Dubium doesn’t require voice-chat, with you instead communicating via in-built voice lines and expressions – which should be a comfort to any mic-shy players and also allow easier communication with players from different countries. It also has Twitch integration that allows viewers to help streamers make decisions while playing.
Visually Dubium is very impressive and it has some fun new ideas that could make for a very different take on the social subterfuge genre. Sign up for the Beta to see if you can figure out who’s suss.
