Ellen is a creepy 2D pixel art horror adventure in which you take on the role of a detective who is exploring an old abandoned mansion where an entire family was murdered and their young daughter (Ellen) disappeared.
Many years ago the Smith family were all found horrifically murdered and the daughter had disappeared. The case was never solved, but recently witnesses have reported seeing a young girl standing in the house. Feeling incensed, you decide to investigate the house and get to the bottom of what happened there all those years ago.
The current build of Ellen takes around 10 minutes to play through and really impresses with its tense atmosphere and stylish pixel art animation. It builds a lot of tension through little changes in the environment – a door mysteriously unlocks, a box moves places while you’re not looking and so on, and there are a couple of freaky moments that can repulse and unnerve players.
It’s a great start to an intriguing and nerve-racking horror adventure. If your detective ever makes it out of that house alive then he definitely deserves a promotion!
