F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch is a slick and stylish action platforming metroidvania with a focus on melee combat as a bunny with a massive mech-arm punches his way through a dieselpunk city.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer last year, F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch is a combat-focused metroidvania that follows the story of Rayton – an angry bunny with a huge metal arm. It takes place in a dystopian dieselpunk city that’s being controlled by a legion of authoritarian machines. After Rayton’s friend is captured by the machines for his work for the resistance, he decides to fight back and give the machines hell.
The latest demo is much longer and narrative-focused than the previous one we covered, taking around an hour to play through and allowing you to explore a sizable chunk of the city. There’s lots to discover as you explore the city which is filled with hidden secrets, enemies to fight, friendly allies and big boss battles. Your mech-arm is a pretty handy bit of kit and as you progress you unlock new combos, attacks and abilities that can do some serious damage. In the full game you’ll also be able to use two more arm attachments that dramatically alter your fighting style.
It’s a very impressive game with an interesting dieselpunk world filled with fun stuff to discover and enemies to beat up. The combat and animation is incredibly fluid and the Unreal Engine powered visuals are absolutely stunning. This rabbity metroidvania packs one hell of a punch. Highly recommended.
