Beta sign ups are now live for Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, a new Final Fantasy VII spin-off that blends battle royale with RPG elements as players face off in Midgar thirty years before the events of FFVII.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is coming to iOS and Android devices but the Beta will be on Android only, and for now it’ll only be available in the US and Canada. Taking place three decades before the events of Final Fantasy VII, it sees players doing battle to be the last one standing and earning the coveted spot of becoming history’s first SOLDIER.
Gameplay-wise it looks more like PUBG than Final Fantasy VII, but the world, characters, monsters and summons are very Final Fantasy and there’s plenty of fan service for fans of the series. As well as fighting other players there are AI enemies/bosses to dispatch and you can even ride Chocobos!
Another battle royale games probably the last thing hardcore Final Fantasy VII want, but Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier does look like it could be a lot of fun. The Beta is due to take place from June 1st to June 7th on Android only. You’ll also need to be in the US or Canada (though a VPN may help if you aren’t).
