Five Laps at Freddy’s is a Mario Kart style mascot kart racing game starring Freddy Fazbear and pals.
The karting gameplay in Five Laps at Freddy’s is pretty similar to most Mario Kart style racing games. You can choose from a selection of FNaF characters, select which kart you’d like them to drive and then you use a mixture of driving skill, power-ups and luck as you attempt to win.
There are a few minor tweaks to the Mario Kart formula, but the biggest one has to be that when you race through a track you transition between Dayshift and Nightshift modes. Dayshift is a cheerful and (relatively) safe place, while Nightshift is dark, neon-lit and has an angry endoskeleton chasing you.
It’s unlikely to usurp Mario Kart or the Sonic racing games, but it’s a fun game that should appeal to fans of the series and the Nightshift mechanic is very cool. See you at the finish line for some pizza!
