Fromto is a wonderfully weird sandbox racing game that combines charming childlike hand drawn artwork, Ultimate Chicken Horse-esque multiplayer level building and the physics based racing chaos of Happy Wheels.
Currently in development by Studio Erikson, Fromto is part racing game, part platformer and part physics based sandbox. It’s playable in single-player challenges, but the real meat of the game is online or local multiplayer, which sees up to four players competing and cooperating to complete unfinished levels.
In the main multiplayer mode players are presented with an unfinished race track which they then all race on. Once everyone’s failed on the initial unfinished course then everybody gets a chance to edit the level using a wide variety of track parts, traps and obstacles. The aim is to build a track that you’ll be able to race a long and reach the finish line, whilst also scuppering the chances of your rivals – so you may want to sneak in some shortcuts and booby traps to get the edge over other racers.
It’s a great looking game with a charming hand drawn visual style and a novel fusion of racing and sandbox level building that manages to be simultaneously collaborative and competitive. A delightful doodle sandbox racer where placing traps is a vital part of building tracks.
