Funk Unplugged is a charming N64-era inspired platforming adventure in which you control an adorable little amplifier that’s been brought to life with the power of space music magic!
We first featured Funk Unplugged back in 2015 during its Kickstarter and really loved the games vibrant game world, cute characters and funky soundtrack. It draws inspiration from the likes of Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie and Spyro the Dragon to create an old school platforming adventure updated for the modern day.
In the game you control Ampy, a super cute little amplifier who was brought to life by an ethereal alien called ‘Feedbac’, who sets out on a quest to stop the Evil Records company from destroying the world with their bad vibes. What follows is a lighthearted platforming adventure, full of collectibles, secrets, quirky enemies (such as spiders wearing fedoras), colorful visuals and a kick ass soundtrack. As well as being adorable and agile, Ampy also has some pretty nifty powers that were bestowed upon him by Feedbac – such as using his good vibes to fix broken objects in the game world, creating new paths for you as you set out to save the world from bad music.
Funk Unplugged was a delight to play way back in 2015, and judging by the new trailer, the next build is going to be a blast. The character animation is fantastic and the game world looks like an absolute joy to explore. You won’t regret plugging-in to this charming funk-filled adventure!
