Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is a tactical team based shooter based on the popular Ghost in the Shell Manga series, in which you control an augmented soldier battling terrorists on the streets of a futuristic cyberpunk world.
Each character in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex has their own exclusive attributes and special abilities, such as Motoko Kusanagi’s ‘Therm-optic Camouflage’ cloaking technology or Saito’s ability to enhance his vision and highlight enemy soldiers. As you progress you’ll unlock upgrades and customise your character with body augmentations, weapon attachments and enhanced abilities. It also has an innovative ‘SkillSync’ feature, which allows players to share skills with nearby team mates.
It’s a good looking game, with plenty of high powered weaponry and satisfyingly bloody combat – in which limbs are torn apart and heads pop like blood-filled balloons. Also, all players who join in the initial Beta test that starts on Oct 1st will unlock an exclusive “First Assault” weapon skin. So sign up now for some tactical team based combat, Manga style.

I got into the beta. It has been damn good fun, but it feels to similarly to the setup of many free to play games. There are a variety of classes, each with their own skill sets, based on the show. There are a variety of weapons, each with full customization which require unlocking with grinding and purchasing with in game currency. There are a few different game modes in the beta and only 3 maps that I have noticed. Fun, but nothing new being brought to the table. There are certain elements that I really enjoy that makes squad combat seem like it would be more important, but when you can run solo through a field of enemies and go 30kill 5deaths – that hope is quickly dashed.
