Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is a new massively multiplayer wizarding adventure from Niantic, Inc. (creators of Pokémon Go), that uses the magic of augmented reality to allow you to bring the Wizarding World into the real world.
Coming to iOS and Android, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite takes place during a time when a calamity is causing artefacts, creatures, people, and even memories from the Wizarding World (a.k.a. Foundables) are seeping into the Muggle world. Players around the world must work together to get to the bottom of “The Calamity” and send the Foundables back where they came from.
Much Like in Pokémon Go, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite brings the game world to real world locations. As you walk around the real world you’ll discover traces of magic that highlight to location of Foundables (like how Pokémon appear in Pokémon Go). There are also Fortresses (similar to Gyms) where you can take part in real-time multiplayer battles against Powerful enemies like Werewolves and Death Eaters. Fortresses will offer a lot of challenge, but will also grant you rarer magical Foundables.
There seems to be a nice amount of depth to Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’s gameplay, with lots of spells to learn and players able to specialise in different magical professions. There are also some fully immersive experiences too – such as allowing you to step into Ollivander’s Wand Shop and explore it in full 360 degree augmented reality.
It’s a great looking game, the Harry Potter universe is the perfect fodder for Augmented Reality and Niantic have proven they know what they’re doing with AR in Pokémon Go. Sign up now for a chance to be on of the first to wave your wands in the Beta!
