Heat Guardian is an intense top down survival horror shooter set in a S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-esque post-Soviet apocalypse in which you must manage resources and survive in a hostile environment populated by deadly mutants.
There are friendly(ish) people to talk to in your base and out in the world, but on the whole Heat Guardian is a lonely experience that makes you feel more and more isolated and vulnerable the further you venture out into the wilderness. Not only do you have to deal with the aggressive mutants that attack anything that moves, but you also have to scavenge and manage resources, and seek out shelter from the icy cold winds that continually make your core body temperature plummet.
Heat Guardian is still early in development, so does have a few rough edges (translation issues mainly), but it shows a lot of promise, thanks especially to the the desolate icy world that can make S.T.A.L.K.E.R.’s Chernobyl Exclusion Zone look like a holiday resort at times. Survival is a real struggle in this place – every wasted bullet and every minute you stay out in the open brings you that much closer to your demise. A grim grimy and gruelling fight for survival in a very inhospitable world.
Note: Press ‘Q’ to change weapons. Also, you don’t need fires to warm you up, any form of shelter will do!
