Heat Signature is a top-down sci-fi adventure game from the developers of Gunpoint in which you dock with randomly generated enemy ships then take part in Hotline Miami-esque stealth action sequences as you explore the ships and complete objectives.
In Heat Signature you pilot a weak, but stealthy and speedy little ship – head on confrontation with enemy ships would be suicide, but if you manage to dock with them then you can sabotage them from the inside. Once you dock with a ship, the gameplay switches to a top down Hotline Miami-esque stealth action mode, with you in direct control of the character. You must attempt to complete objectives, such as stealing an item or killing the crew or even stealing the ship (which you can keep for yourself if you like).
As well as randomly generated enemy ships, your character and ship will be randomly generated each time you respawn, so there’s plenty of replayability to be had. Intriguingly, each time you die time will pass in the game world (around a week) and events will happen in your absence. It’s much more than just ‘Hotline Miami in space’ (which would be pretty damn cool anyway), there’s a lot going on, with RPG-elements, Roguelike elements and awesome spaceship flying elements. Heat Signature really is shaping up to be a red hot game.
