Hero Blocks is a very promising new team based 3D arena fighter coming to Xbox One, PS4 and Steam in which up to 30 players do battle with charming little robotic Skeletoonians using an innovative fighting system that gives players control over all four of their limbs.
Hero Blocks tells the tale of the Skeletoonians – quirky robots who are the only surviving intelligent life on planet Earth. They were originally released as children toys in the year 2035, but after they started showing odd behavioural defects they were all recalled and stored in warehouses. Sometime after life had ended on planet Earth the Skeletoonians awoke and forged a life for themselves, but they can only live for as long as their voltage lasts, thus requiring a never-ending search for voltage drives as they dig deeper into the past.
There’s no gameplay footage available yet, but the series of funny vignettes hint at a fighting game with plenty of robot deforming carnage and a light hearted atmosphere with a surprising amount of character exuding from it’s charming little robots. It’s a melee focused combat game in which up to 30 players will be able to do battle at once, blending classic 2D fighting game mechanics with 3D movement and the ability to control all four of your limbs separately to create a unique combat experience. It also promises subtle elements of well known sports that are part of capturing bases which should shake things up a little – if it’s anything like this video suggests then it’ll be a blast!
Those little robotic Skeletoonians look like a joy to play around with and if the phrase “30 player deformable robot fighting game” doesn’t get you excited then you need to check your pulse. Sign up for the Alpha now to join in the robot rumble early!
