Horatio Salt and the Book of the Dead is a very funny old school Lucasarts inspired point and click adventure full of clever puzzles and great gags as you set out in search of the Necronomicon.
In Horatio Salt and the Book of the Dead you take control of Horatio Salt, a young adventurer who is in search of the Necronomicon (The Book of the Dead), which he needs to track down his parents who have been sucked into another dimension. Tracking down the Necronomicon may be a little tricky though as someone has obviously gone to a lot of effort to hide it away from prying eyes.
Horatio Salt and the Book of the Dead plays like classic Lucasarts adventures with a SCUMM-style interface and puzzles that requires a mixture of hot-point hunting, logic and experimentation. It has some fun twists and there are also some fantastic fourth wall breaking gags, such as your Indiana Jones-style world map (or absence thereof) and a very witty description of your “Dummies Guide to Exposition” book.
Unfortunately due to the time constraints of the jam the current build only features the first part of Horatio’s adventure, so there’s not a particularly satisfactory ending at the moment, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun while it lasts. A hilarious little point and click adventure well worth embarking on.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to put game jam builds on FGP?
Hi! We like to cover some Game Jam games on ABG too. We generally think of Game Jam games as prototypes that devs may expand on in the future. There are many fully fledged games that have been created from game jam builds – such as Superhot, Party Hard, Sara Is Missing, Gods Will Be Watching, Home Improvisaton, Snake Pass, and Surgeon Simulator.
