I, Dracula: Genesis is a beautifully animated isometric roguelite twin-stick shooter that blends Sci-Fi and fantasy as you use a massive assortment of technology to blast grotesque abominations and defeat Dracula.
If you like choice, variety and upgrades in your roguelites then you’re in for a treat with I, Dracula: Genesis. Even before you leave the base hub then you can choose from a selection of unique characters then choose which character class perks to give them. Once you get into the game and start blasting baddies then there’s a huge variety of weapons, skills, perks, relics, alien artefacts, consumables, actives and passives to collect – in fact there are over 1200 unique items, which makes for a ridiculous amount of possible configurations.
All the upgrades would be for nothing though if the gameplay wasn’t up to scratch, but thankfully it’s a blast. There’s a huge variety of enemies to do battle with, NPCs to meet and some powerful bosses to fight. They’re all beautifully animated and the twin-stick combat is fast, fluid and nicely chaotic.
There are a lot of roguelike/roguelite dungeon crawlers around now, but I, Dracula: Genesis does a great job of setting itself apart from the crowd. The isometric pixel art animation is superb, the gameplay is fun, there’s tons of loot and every single enemy and NPC you meet is packed full of character.
