Ikonospace is an innovative new 3D creation tool that allows you to build your own virtual exhibitions to show off your own artwork or the artwork you love.
We’ve covered a few virtual art galleries on Alpha Beta Gamer (Art Games At SAIC) and Free Game Planet (FACES, The Zium Museum) and have found them to be a much better way to experience art that just scrolling through a selection of images. Walking around a custom built gallery and viewing the artwork in first person immerses you in the experience and allows you to appreciate each piece of art better.
Ikonospace not only allows you to visit other peoples galleries, but allows you to build your own, whether using your own art or creating virtual galleries dedicated to art that you like. It has a lot of potential, not just for users to showcase their own art, but to create new ways to appreciate other people’s art too. For instance, there’s no way in the real world that you could visit a gallery that contained the entire works of Van Gogh, but with Ikonospace it’s possible. Also, you can create galleries dedicated to art styles that appeal to you, which never really get showcased in art galleries – so you could create a record sleeve art gallery, a comic book art gallery, an Anime gallery, a pixel art gallery or anything else you’re fond of.
The galleries created in Ikonospace will be viewable on mobile devices, tablets, Mac, PC and even VR. It’s a great concept that looks set to make it easier for artists to get their art seen, allow users to create shrines to their favorite niches of art styles and allow easy access to art for the general public. A new way to experience art.
