Imperfect is a first person psychological horror game where you use mystical picture frames to allow you to see hidden objects and monsters in the game world.
Currently in development by solo dev, Walter Woods, in Imperfect you delve into a mysterious world of conspiracy theories and supernatural horror after your van takes an unexpected trip off the side of a cliff. You were not a good person, and now you’re trapped in a strange world filled with ancient supernatural machines and shadowy creatures that crave the light.
As you explore, you’ll solve puzzles, unravel the mysteries of the place you’re trapped in and learn more about the strange girl you keep having visions of. Not everything in the world is immediately visible to the naked eye either – you can hold up picture frames to reveal hidden objects and reveal (and combat) the shadowy creatures that lurk in the darkness.
It’s a very promising game with excellent voice acting, a striking visual style and clever use of its mystical picture frame-based mechanics. It also does a good job of using environmental cues to hint at aspects of the narrative rather than beating you over the head with it.
