Industrial Dreams is an isometric horror game that features a clever fusion of text-based and point and click adventure gameplay as you explore the world via CCTV cameras.
In Industrial Dreams you awaken in a derelict factory in a world ravaged by war. You are confined and can only view the world via a computer screen that’s hooked up to a network of cameras (don’t worry it’s not a FNaF style game).
You have a selection of commands you can type, such as “Lights” to turn on the lights, and you can use the mouse to select different objects on the screen, read text and activate electrically powered objects. The main way you “move” around the world is via the different security camera feeds, but to switch between them, you first need to know the designated name of the camera – which you can find by searching, reading notes and solving puzzles.
It takes a couple of minutes to figure out what you’re supposed to be doing, but once you get to grips with it then it’s an excellent game. It’s got a very eerie atmosphere, the isometric visuals are superb and it’s a very creative concept that finally uses security cameras for something other than jump scares. Also, the world-building is fascinating. By the end you’ll be dying to discover more. Highly recommended.
Tip: Type “Help” for a list of commands.
