Inspector Waffles is a lighthearted retro point and click adventure where you take on the role of an anthropomorphic detective cat who is investigating the murder of a rich industrialist called “Fluffy”.
Currently in development by Goloso Games (creators of Antenna Dilemma), Inspector Waffles is a fun pixel art point and click adventure set in a city full of anthropomorphic cats and dogs. You take on the role of the titular character as he attempts to crack a tough new case – a murder that will lead to a conspiracy far bigger then he could have ever expected.
The Inspector Waffles demo build features around 20 minutes of gameplay and sees you turning up at the crime scene where Fluffy was murdered, searching for clues and interrogating a witness. It’s a fun adventure with an intuitive UI, some great little gags, logical puzzles and a cleverly implemented interrogation/conversation system. Interrogation in detective games can often seem either extremely basic or overly complicated and clumsy, but Inspector Waffles manages to walk the fine line between the two.
Inspector Waffles is certainly off to a very promising start, with witty dialogue, interesting characters, excellent pixel art animation and classic Lucasarts-esque gameplay. A purrfect feline detective point and click adventure well worth picking up.
