Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a 2.5D zombie survival game where you scavenge, craft and upgrade your bases as you attempt to escape a zombie-filled city.
The gameplay in Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a little like a 2.5D version of State of Decay. You have your survivors who you can give separate tasks (craft, repair defenses, sleep, etc), you can fix up your base and you can go out on excursions to different parts of the city to scavenge resources, meet other survivors and find new base camps.
Stealth plays a big factor as you go on scouting/scavenging trips to nearby areas. There are melee weapons and guns, but you’re generally best off sneaking up on zombies and killing them from behind or just avoiding them altogether. Though you will have to clear out locations if you want to use them as bases in the future.
At the moment it’s a little lacking in dramatic tension (something music could fix), but it is still early in development and the rest of the game is pretty impressive. The visuals and character animations are fantastic and it’s a lot of fun exploring the various locations and figuring out how to deal with the zombies inside them. A very promising take on the zombie survival genre.
