Islets Defense is an inventive turn-based tower defense game where you balance resource harvesting with upgrading defenses to fend off attacks.
As with other tower defense games, the goal in Islets Defense is to prevent waves of enemies from reaching and breaching your base. However the gameplay in Islets Defense is entirely turn-based, and has a big focus on resource harvesting. Your weapon towers are obviously necessary, but you need to create structures to gather wood, stone and food to help build them and keep them running.
Each turn you can choose from one of four different options – Upgrade, Morph (morphs terrain), Build and explore (reveals more of the map area). The game has a system that encourages you to balance out the use of all four, as the longer it’s been since you’ve used one, the stronger its effect is.
It’s a very unique and clever take on the tower defense genre, with easily accessible gameplay, cozy visuals and an addictive gameplay loop. A strategic and stress-free take on the genre. Highly recommended.
