Jack Move is a VHS-era styled cyberpunk turn based RPG adventure that follows the story of a vigilante hacker who gets embroiled in a dark conspiracy after her father mysteriously goes missing.
The turn based RPG gameplay of Jack Move draws inspiration from classic JRPGs like Final Fantasy 7-10, Golden Sun and Grandia, but injects it with a modern twist and a super cool cyberpunk setting. In the game you take on the role of Solares, an infamous vigilante hacker-for-hire who gets involved in a dark conspiracy when her estranged father sends her an emergency message. She’ll have to take on a nefarious corporation that’s trying to steal her father’s research, as she tries to save him and the future of mankind.
Jack Move transplants traditional JRPG gameplay into its stylish cyberpunk setting, with you exploring the world in real-time and switching to turn based battles when you encounter an enemy. Exploration takes place in the real world, but combat takes place in a virtual world where you attempt to hack your enemies. You hack much like you would fight in a JRPG, with you selecting from a variety of attacks and special moves as well as being able to use items and pull off extremely powerful “Jack Moves”.
The current build of Jack Move takes around thirty minutes to play through and really impresses with its high quality pixel artwork, cool cyberpunk setting and deep tactical turn based combat. You have a nice assortment of abilities at your disposal and even some useful loot to collect as you hack your way past cyber dogs, punks, weld masters and a big boss fight. It’s a lot of fun and feels like a great modern twist on the traditional JRPG. Highly recommended.
