KIDDO is a beautifully animated point and click adventure that blends domestic squalor with surreal oddity as a slobbish wastrel sets out to fix the only thing he still cares about.
In KIDDO you follow the adventure of the titular Kiddo, a mask wearing waster who has all but given up on life. His entire house is a pit of squallour, with garbage and dirty cloths flung everywhere. He can’t even be bothered to wear pants or feed his dog. But then his dog goes missing and he sets out on an adventure to find him and perhaps sort out his life a tiny bit.
The KIDDO demo build takes around 20 minutes to play through and sees you searching for a way to clean a toilet. There’s a nice variety of puzzles and Kiddo’s house is incredibly detailed and packed full of great little bits of environmental storytelling that give you more insight into his squalid life.
It would be nice if there was a pants-on mode for the game, as even though the game has no sexual content, the fact that Kiddo has his crudely drawn genitalia out all the time means that it’s unlikely it will get any publicity on YouTube or Twitch. Other than that though, it’s a fantastic game with some incredible animation, lots of surreal oddity, fun puzzles and a very unique narrative. Highly recommended.
