Killer in the Cabin is a multiplayer social survival horror game where a group of players attempt to survive in the Norwegian wilderness following a bus crash, but one of them is a killer!
Drawing on the type of social subterfuge popularised by Among Us and Werewolf, Killer in the Cabin sees a group of players attempting to survive in a snowy Scandinavian wilderness while a killer lurks in their ranks. Each game session takes a maximum of fifteen minutes and sees the stranded group of players cooperating to find flood, water and shelter so they can survive until rescue comes. Meanwhile the killer uses stealth and subterfuge to sabotage and kill them without getting caught.
Communication is key for the survivors as they share resources, create meals, keep the cabin warm and ensure a sufficient supply of water. At any time the players can vote to figure out who the killer is, with a majority vote causing the suspected killer to be bumped off (whether they’re guilty or not).
The killer is vastly outnumbered (at the start anyway) so stealth and subterfuge are preferable to blunt force. They’ll be able to use tactics such as poisoning food or strangling people in their sleep, but their best weapon is communication and persuading survivors to distrust each other.
It’s a very promising take on the social subterfuge genre, with a fun 80’s horror movie vibe, plenty of ways to bump off other players and some stunning Norwegian scenery to enjoy. The open Beta is live now, so jump in now for a pleasant stay in a scenic Sacaninavnian cabin!
