Killer Queen Black is the Switch and PC based adaptation of the hit arcade multiplayer action/strategy platformer Killer Queen, that sees teams of players facing off against each other in fast paced battles with multiple victory conditions.
Since its release in 2013 Killer Queen’s 10 player single-screen strategic action platforming gameplay has been a huge hit in arcades – often seen with lines of people waiting to play or watching the action unfold. Killer Queen Black has been built from the ground up to be played on Switch and PC, so dies have a few minor differences from Killer Queen – most notably it features 4v4 battles instead of 5v5. It will also feature online multiplayer, local multiplayer (Switch only), four game modes (Quick Match, Ranked, Custom and Arena) and five distinct weapons (Sword, Morning Star, Laser, Lance and Stinger).
The core gameplay in Killer Queen Black remains the same as the arcade original though – with three ways to win – ride the giant snail into your base, fill your hive with nectar or kill the enemy queen three times. one player in each team spawns as a Queen, while the rest spawn as Drones. Drones can ride snails and collect berries, and they can also transform into Warriors. Warriors can’t collect berries or ride snails but they can fly around the arena and kill other enemy characters.
At first glance Killer Queen Black looks like a simple retro arcade game, but there’s a LOT of depth to the gameplay. With three victory conditions and lots of little tricks you can use to aid your team, it’s a very tactical experience in which the best team strategy will win.
