Killer7, the cult classic action adventure game from SUDA51, Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Shinji Mikami is coming to Steam, with players able to sign up to Beta test the bizarre split-personality assassin masterpiece now.
Previously only released on PS2 and Gamecube, Killer7 sees you taking on the role of Harman Smith, a 65 year old man known as Killer7, who has the ability to manifest seven different deadly personalities into the real world. The seven personalities are all very different – such as a blind boy with Daredevil-like hearing abilities, a grenade launcher-packing ex-wrestler and an albino man who can turn invisible by taking off his shades. Each personality has their own unique abilities and preferred weapons, and you can switch between each personality at will, which will come in handy when you face off against the nefarious “Heaven Smile” organisation.
It doesn’t look like the Steam release of Killer7 will feature much in the way of new content or extra features, but it will look better, with visuals and UI optimised for PC. The gameplay still features a unique blend of first person shooter and an on-rails control scheme that will take a little getting used to and it’s still a very linear experience which may not appeal to all, but it’s a bat-sh*t crazy adventure that has more than earned the title of cult classic and has been long due a remaster.
